Hear Against Me!’s New Stomper ‘Haunting, Haunted, Haunts’
Against Me! release their new studio LP Shape Shift With Me in September, and after debuting lead single “333,” the punk veterans have shared another album cut, “Haunting, Haunted, Haunts,” via the Adult Swim Singles series.
The rollicking, swaggering stomper features Laura Jane Grace snarling on the track, “Rooms that I was left in / Rooms that I since left / It was another life that I might have had / I know the feeling well, longing for something that’s lost / I feel you like a phantom limb.”
Download “Haunting, Haunted, Haunts” for free at the Adult Swim Singles site. Artists who have already contributed to the 2016 series include Protomartyr, D∆WN, DJ Paypal and Ryan Hemsworth, with Rae Sremmurd, Run the Jewels, Metro Boomin’, Vince Staples and more expected to drop exclusive tracks over the next 12 weeks.
Against Me! have called Shape Shift With Me, due out September 16th, a “loose concept album about traveling the world and falling in and out of love, with Grace serving as the narrator.”
“Is there a record that is about relationships from a trans perspective?” Grace said of the LP. “There needs to be more records about trans rights and everything like that, but feeling like I already did that, I wanted to move on to write commentary on living from a trans perspective. I wanted to write the transgender response to the Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main St., Liz Phair’s Exile In Guyville and the Streets’ A Grand Don’t Come For Free. All those records are relationship records. There’s been an infinite amount of records talking about what love means from a cisgender perspective. I wanted to present the trans perspective on sex, love and heartbreak.”
