Watch Nick Cave Contemplate Change in Tormented Album, Film Trailer
Nick Cave mulls the way humans resist change in the stark black-and-white trailer for his new album with the Bad Seeds, Skeleton Tree, and its accompanying film, One More Time With Feeling.
The clip comprises footage of Cave and the Bad Seeds performing Skeleton Tree along with vast, cinematic landscapes filmed by director Andrew Dominik. While a violin squeals into a coarse, aching melody, Cave wonders, “What happens when an event occurs that is so catastrophic that you just change? You change from the known person to an unknown person. So that when you look at yourself in the mirror, you recognize the person that you were, but the person inside the skin is a different person.”
Skeleton Tree marks Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ 16th album. The LP arrives September 9th, while One More Time With Feeling will screen one-night only on September 8th. The film includes footage of the Bad Seeds performing Skeleton Tree, along with band interviews and Cave’s narration.
The project began as a performance-based piece and evolved into a documentary-type project that explored the “tragic backdrop of the writing and recording of the album” concerning the loss of Cave’s teenage son in July 2015.
