Yoko Ono Talks Japan Disaster and Relief Concert
Yoko Ono, like so many others, has been stunned and saddened by news of the deadly earthquake and tsunami in Japan. “I’m still in a daze, in a way,” she tells Rolling Stone at SXSW, where she is performing and giving a talk. “Of course, I’m Japanese, too. It’s something that happened in my home country. It’s an incredible shock.”
On March 27th, Ono will join her son Sean Lennon, Sonic Youth, Cibo Matto and others for a Japan benefit concert in New York, organized by avant-garde composer John Zorn. And she’s still looking for more ways to help the disaster victims. “I have to think about what I will do next,” she says. “Of course, I donated money to the Red Cross, but I don’t think that’s enough.”
Ono also told Rolling Stone about her plans for performing at SXSW, her work with Lady Gaga and how she feels about becoming a dance chart sensation. Watch the video interview below.
