See Dierks Bentley’s Rousing Grand Ole Opry Performance of ‘Woman, Amen’
Dierks Bentley delivered an old-school, all-acoustic rendition of his surging new single “Woman, Amen,” on the Grand Ole Opry Monday night, hearkening back to the historic radio show’s traditional roots.
Looking dapper in a formal suit and flanked by fiddle, mandolin, stand-up bass and acoustic guitar, Bentley unplugged his band and gathered them around a pair of microphones on the Opry House stage, highlighting the romantic song’s devoted, sing-along vocals and propulsive arrangement.
“It’s a really great love song, but it also feels like a party for me,” Bentley recently told Rolling Stone Country of “Woman, Amen.” “I have party songs like ‘5-1-5-0’ and ‘Am I the Only One,’ but you can get to that same destination in a different way, like with this song. It still gets to the party, it just takes a different route to get there.”
Written by Bentley with frequent collaborators Josh Kear and Ross Copperman, “Woman, Amen” is the first single from Bentley’s upcoming ninth studio album, The Mountain, which was inspired by time the Arizona native spent in Telluride, Colorado, and also recorded in the Rocky Mountains resort town. Described as a combination of his rock-infused 2016 album Black and his bluegrass-inspired 2010 effort, Up on the Ridge, the new album is set for release in the first part of 2018.
Bentley’s Mountain High Tour kicks off May 17th in Columbia, Maryland, with Brothers Osborne and Lanco.
