Hear Caleb Caudle’s Tranquil New Song ‘Love That’s Wild’
Caleb Caudle wrote “Love That’s Wild” the day after one of the biggest nights of his life: the night he proposed to his wife. The song, which appears on the North Carolina native’s new album Crushed Coins and can be heard below, is every bit as peaceful and serene as could be expected, the picture of profound contentment.
“We left the next morning for a getaway in the mountains of North Carolina. After we settled in to our cabin, I pulled out my guitar and wrote this song in one sitting,” Caudle tells Rolling Stone Country of the day after he and his wife got engaged. “I just remember feeling so relieved that I was worthy of someone’s love who I respected so much. It’s about finding the beauty in the details of everyday life.”
Set to a warm, shimmering melody, “Love That’s Wild” has a relatively sparse arrangement and whisper-soft harmonies that are augmented by some subtly jazzy phrasings. “I heard all about livin’ the dream,” Caudle sings. “There’s no crown but you’re the queen.”
Crushed Coins, Caudle’s fifth album in six years, is due out February 23rd on Cornelius Chapel Records. He’ll be a part of the Cayamo Cruise that sails from New Orleans earlier that same month.
