Jon Pardi Shares Ultimate Road Trip Playlist
Road tripping is one of summer’s grand traditions, and every sunny journey requires the proper soundtrack. Singer-songwriter Jon Pardi spends a large chunk of his time every year on the road, so he’s had a little time to work on perfecting the road trip playlist, which he shares with us below.
Pardi, whose album California Sunrise recently debuted at Number One, has included some of his own tracks like “Chasin’ Them Better Days” and “Dirt on My Boots,” but predominantly focuses on his country and rock influences. Joe Diffie’s “Pickup Man” and George Strait’s “Blue Clear Sky” lead the list with a one-two punch of classic country, but there are also current offerings from Brothers Osborne (“Down Home”) and Eric Church (“Mr. Misunderstood”). Classic rock from Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers Band and Tom Petty is well-represented, as are soulful tracks from Bobby Darin (“Beyond the Sea”) and Ray Charles (“America the Beautiful”). The list also contains one surprise for fans who think Pardi’s a strict traditionalist: envelope-pushing Sam Hunt’s “Raised on It.”
This weekend, Pardi and his band will road trip to Faster Horses festival, running July 15th to 17th in Brooklyn, Michigan. In addition to Pardi, the stacked lineup includes Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Alan Jackson, Aubrie Sellers and Sam Hunt, among others.
