Dolly Parton Unveils New Album Cover Art, Track List
Dolly Parton has released the track listing and cover art [below] for her upcoming LP, Pure & Simple, an album that will take her right back to where it all began for the budding superstar nearly 50 years ago. In 1967, after a brief stint with Monument Records, Parton signed with the RCA label. The company would be her home for the next 20 years. With Pure & Simple, the global entertainment icon returns to RCA Nashville, releasing the album in a joint venture with her own Dolly Records imprint. RCA Nashville is one of the labels operated by Sony Music, which released Parton’s 2014 studio LP, Blue Smoke, although that release was on the Sony Masterworks label.
Pure & Simple takes Parton and her fans back to the singer-songwriter’s Appalachian roots, emphasizing lyrical content over production. It’s a fitting time for her to return to the RCA Nashville label where her breakthrough hits, including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “I Will Always Love You,” were recorded. After leaving RCA in 1987, Parton recorded for Columbia Nashville, which is now also a part of the Sony Music Entertainment conglomerate.
The second leg of Parton’s Pure & Simple Tour begins July 19th in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dates for the trek are scheduled through the remainder of the year.
Pure & Simple, which was produced by Parton, will be released on August 19th, with pre-orders starting Friday, July 8th.
