Hear Gucci Mane’s Tight Tupac Sample on New Song ‘On Me’
Gucci Mane‘s new single “On Me” features a sample from Tupac Shakur‘s “Fuck ‘Em All,” from his 2002 posthumous album Better Dayz. “I feel like 2Pac when he made All Eyez on Me,” Gucci raps over grinding drums.
Elsewhere, Gucci raps about needing a detox (“I’ve been smoking kush all week/ And if I piss some dirty urine then I’m up shit creek”), expensive jewelry (“I spend 50K a month, and that’s just on chains”) and his rap status (“It get so lonely at the top”). The single was dropped ahead of Gucci’s forthcoming LP Everybody Looking, which features guest verses from Kanye West (“Pussy Print”) and Young Thug (“Guwop Home”).
After being released from prison on firearm possession charges in May, Gucci released a string of new tracks like “First Day Out Tha Feds” and Drake collaboration “Back on Road.” The rapper appeared on Kanye West’s all-star Cruel Winter single “Champions.”
Everybody Looking, Gucci’s first album since 2011’s The Return of Mr. Zone 6, was recorded in six days following his prison release. The LP features production from Mike WiLL Made-It, Zaytoven and Drumma Boy.
