Chance the Rapper Recruits Skrillex, Lil Wayne for New Chicago Fest
Chance the Rapper has enlisted Skrillex, Lil Wayne, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Tyler, the Creator and more for Magnificent Coloring Day, a new music festival planned for September 24th at Chicago’s U.S. Cellular Field. According to The Chicago Tribune, the rapper’s hometown event will be the “first-ever music festival” held at the stadium.
Ticket pricing and additional information will be made available via Chance’s website. In June, the rapper announced the Magnificent Coloring World Tour promoting his acclaimed Coloring Book mixtape, which Rolling Stone named one of the 45 Best Albums of 2016 So Far.
The North American leg of Chance’s tour begins August 7th with a performance at San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival, spanning major cities throughout the U.S. – including a spot at New York’s inaugural Meadows Fest – and concluding back in San Francisco on October 21st. The Chicago date was initially listed as “TBD.”
Prior to touring, Chance have a memorable tribute to the late Muhammad Ali with a new song at the ESPY Awards in July. Backed by a full choir and frequent collaborators Donnie Trumpet, Jamila Woods, Peter Cottontale and Teddy Jackson, Chance alternated between rapping and singing lines devoted to the boxer, who died in June.
Skrillex recently joined Chance for a wacky guest spot on The Late Show, creating an electro-rap remix of Stephen Colbert’s monologue about breakfast cereal.
