Oak Ridge Boys, Tanya Tucker Among Legends Set for Dallas Police Benefit
More than a dozen country legends, including Tanya Tucker and Country Music Hall of Fame members the Oak Ridge Boys and (in a special appearance) Randy Travis, will show their support to the families of the recently slain Dallas police officers with Stars Behind the Stars, a benefit concert at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, on Wednesday, July 27th.
Other artists set to perform at this special event include Mark Wills, Collin Raye, Janie Fricke, Kelly Lang, the Bellamy Brothers, T. Graham Brown, Johnny Lee, Gene Watson, John Conlee, Ronnie McDowell, Mickey Gilley and Moe Bandy. T.G. Sheppard, who will also perform, is serving as host of the event, and all of the performers will be backed by the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Band.
Tickets ($10 general admission, $20 reserved) are currently on sale and expected to sell out quickly. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Dallas Police Association’s Assist the Officer Foundation, which provides immediate financial assistance to an officer’s family in the event of the death of an active officer.
The five officers killed in the July 7th attack were DPD Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, DPD Officer Michael Krol, DPD Sgt. Michael Smith, DART Officer Brent Thompson and DPD Officer Patrick Zamarripa. Nine other officers and two civilians were also injured in the shooting.
