John Prine’s New Album to Feature Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves
John Prine and a few of his talented friends will dip into the classic country songbook for the singer-songwriter’s new LP For Better, or Worse, his first full-length album in nearly five years. Included on the collection, which will be released September 30th via Oh Boy Records, are duets with Kacey Musgraves, Lee Ann Womack and Miranda Lambert.
The album’s first single “Who’s Gonna Take the Garbage Out,” premiered recently and features Iris DeMent and Prine filling the roles originally played by Loretta Lynn and Ernest Tubb. Prine and DeMent previously sang together on the title track from his 1999 album In Spite of Ourselves, which featured similarly-styled duets with female singers. Elsewhere on For Better, or Worse, Lambert guests on Hank Williams’ “Cold, Cold Heart” and Kathy Mattea collaborates on “Dreaming My Dreams.” Hear “Who’s Gonna Take the Garbage Out” below.
Prine will celebrate the release of For Better, or Worse with a two-night stand at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on September 30th and October 1st. He also has numerous dates scheduled through the end of 2016, sharing stages with Patty Griffin, Margo Price and others.
