See P.K. Subban Get Used to Nashville by Singing Johnny Cash
It looks like P.K. Subban will be right at home with the Predators.
This past June, the Montreal Canadiens shocked the hockey world by trading their star defenseman to the Nashville Predators for Shea Weber. And despite being about three weeks removed from the blockbuster trade, we still don’t know why the Canadiens decided to find a new home for Subban. While Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin said there’s more to the trade than the public knows, Subban denies the rumors that he was butting heads with his former teammates, and the team’s ex-analytics consultant was a strong advocate against the trade before he eventually parted ways.
Either way, Subban touched down in Music City over the weekend for the first time since the trade became official and introduced himself to the locals in the most Nashville way possible — by stopping by the iconic bar Tootsie’s and grabbing the open mic to sing Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” Subban also promised to bring the Stanley Cup to Nashville while he was at it because, well, why the hell not? But what about his singing?
“I try to sing,” Subban said. “I like to think I’m a singer. But I don’t think I’m very good.”
Subban spent the rest of his day checking out Bridgestone Arena, getting his new jersey and hanging out with young hockey players at Force Ice Center. Weber, meanwhile, has to deal with people arguing over whether or not he’s actually good at hockey.
