See Margo Price’s Searing ‘Four Years of Chances’ on ‘Fallon’
Margo Price made her debut on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on July 14th, performing “Four Years of Chances.” The fiery song appears on Price’s acclaimed Third Man Records album Midwest Farmer’s Daughter.
Dressed in black and armed with a blue Fender Telecaster, Price confidently leads her band — including a couple horn players — through the tune, a scathing kiss off about wasted time. “You had me one thousand, four hundred sixty-one days,” she chides, rebuffing the man who took her for granted while she cooked and cleaned. With each additional chorus, the performance ratchets up a few notches in intensity until the band arrives at the big finish.
“A lot of times, people say, ‘You’re so much like Loretta or Tammy Wynette,'” Price told Rolling Stone when her album came out. “But I feel kind of like one of the men. I’m like David Allan Coe. I’ve been to prison, man! I think that’s what separated me from the Kacey Musgraves, stuff like that. There’s not a lot of glitter or girly bows and stuff.”
Midwest Farmer’s Daughter was released March 25th and made Price the first solo female country artist to have a top 10 Billboard country album debut without a song on the Hot Country Songs chart. Shortly after the album release, Price was presented with the opportunity to perform on an episode of Saturday Night Live that was hosted by Russell Crowe. On October 13th, Price will launch her Born to Ramble tour with a show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles.
