Watch Eric Church’s Previously-Unreleased ‘Sinners Like Me’ Video
A decade after his debut album, Sinners Like Me, hit stores in July 2006, Eric Church is releasing a rarely-seen video for the record’s title track.
“This video has been sitting in our vault for 10 years, waiting for this very moment,” reads a message on the singer’s Facebook wall. “Eric’s first album Sinners Like Me came out 10 years ago today. . .[and] defined Eric as we know him, one decade later.”
Featuring a black-and-white montage of behind-the-scenes clips, crowd shots and performance footage, “Sinners Like Me” unfolds like a home movie, capturing a star-in-the-making at the onset of his career. Longtime members of Church’s road band make frequent appearances, including a baby-faced Driver Williams, but the kicker is seeing the Chief hit the stage without his sunglasses, the dark-tinted lenses of which have since become a mainstay of his public appearance. Coupled with lyrics that celebrate his hell-raising family, Church’s “Sinners Like Me” clip is both a blast of nostalgia and a celebration of defiance, proof that even during the earliest leg of his career, Church reveled in breaking the rules.
