Watch Bob Dylan Jam on Cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Free Bird’
“Free Bird!” someone from the back of the Greek Theater in Berkeley, California yelled Thursday night. Bob Dylan and his band responded accordingly.
The legendary folk singer, who turned 75 last month, closed the evening’s performance with the ultimate southern rock jam “Free Bird,” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It’s the first time Dylan covered the rock standard, but judging from the smooth jive, he’s had the tune in his back pocket for a while.
This is an active year for Dylan, who released his last album Fallen Angels in May. He will also perform at Desert Trip later this year alongside heavyweights Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Roger Waters and the Who.
