Watch Christina Aguilera Belt Orlando Tribute ‘Change’ on ‘Kimmel’
Christina Aguilera performed her uplifting new song “Change,” a tribute to the victims of the horrifying Orlando shooting, Thursday on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Backed by a four-piece band and a vocal quartet, the Voice coach belted the soulful track against a simple backdrop of purple swirls.
“Stand tall, be proud and lift your voices/ Let ’em know who we are and our choices/ And one day we won’t have to sing this chorus,” Aguilera crooned on the gospel-tinged ballad, which she cowrote with Fancy Hagood and Flo Reutter. “Waiting on a change to set us free/ Waiting for the day that you can be you and I can be me.”
Until September 14th, all proceeds from the iTunes download of “Change” will benefit the National Compassion Fund, which supports the victims and families affected by the Pulse shooting.
“The horrific tragedy that occurred in Orlando continues to weigh heavily on my mind,” Aguilera wrote in a statement announcing the song. “Like so many, I want to help be part of the change this world needs to make it a beautiful inclusive place where humanity can love each other freely and passionately.”
