Watch Violent Femmes Air ‘Issues’ in New Animated Video
Violent Femmes have released a new video for their song, “Issues,” which they premiered on Noisey. The song hails from We Can Do Anything, which they released in March.
Featuring animation by David Gladstein, the darkly humorous black-and-white clip depicts two drawn characters in a relatable relationship, where issues are tearing them apart. “You try to tell me about your issues/ I don’t need to know about them anymore/ Your issues/ And why you standing in my kitchen door?/ I don’t want to talk about it/ I don’t care,” Gordon Gano sings on the quirky track.
However, it’s those same issues that also spark intrigue and bring the couple together for some inevitable (and funny) stick-figure makeup sex. Violent Femmes make their full-color appearance in the video when the cartoon couple watches the band performing on a screen.
We Can Do Anything is the Milwaukee group’s first full-length album in 15 years. The band is touring this summer in support of the album, with the current leg of the tour wrapping on July 24th in Toronto, Canada at Massey Hall. They have an additional fall date scheduled for September 24th at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, TN. Earlier this year they stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where they performed a rendition of their 1983 hit “Blister in the Sun.”
