Watch Reflective Trailer for Maynard James Keenan’s Upcoming Memoir
Last October, Tool singer Maynard James Keenan revealed that he was working on an authorized biography in collaboration with author Sarah Jensen. Eight months later, Keenan has unveiled a trailer for the book, now titled A Perfect Union of Contrary Things. The 320-page book’s release date is November 8th.
“When you come to a crossroads, you can either become crippled by doubt, or you can start down an inspirational new path,” Keenan says in the trailer, which is presented like the singer watching a film about his own life. Archival photos from throughout Keenan’s life surface, with Jensen detailing her 30-year friendship with Keenan in voiceover.
“The book traces Keenan’s journey from his Midwest childhood to his years in the Army to his time in art school, from his stint at a Boston pet shop to his place in the international spotlight and his influence on contemporary music and regional winemaking,” the book’s description reads.
In addition to Keenan’s own words, A Perfect Union of Contrary Things also features interviews with the singer’s family and friends, plus a foreword by 10,000 Days and Lateralus artist Alex Grey.
