See Kelleigh Bannen’s Scorching ‘Landlocked’ Video
Making the best of a sweltering summer – without the aide of fancy country clubs or glistening yachts – is a country tradition. Little Big Town hit the “Pontoon,” Brothers Osborne loaded up their pickup truck with a tarp and a hose on “Rum” and now Kelleigh Bannen‘s filling hers with sand and hitting the pool for her new single, “Landlocked.” From her debut EP, Cheap Sunglasses, the song’s all about keeping cool when the nearest ocean is nine hours away – with the help of some water guns, a couple of swan inflatables and an infectious, swampy beat.
“When life don’t give you waves, spike some lemonade,” sings Bannen, who grew up in Nashville and knows very well what it feels like to grow up landlocked.
Formerly signed with EMI Records, Bannen recently split from the label and released Cheap Sunglasses solo, writing an honest message to fans on her blog about her new direction – and her eagerness to move forward on her own terms. “It’s sad to say goodbye to the old chapter. I liked it. It was safe (safe-ish, I guess) but I wasn’t growing the way that I longed too, and I wasn’t able to put music out for myself, or share my music with my fans,” she confessed.
Cheap Sunglasses is out now.
