Alice in Chains Plot Headlining North American Tour
Alice in Chains have announced the first leg of their headlining North American tour, which starts July 6th at Schnitzer Hall in Portland.
In April, the alt-metal veterans opened a pair of shows for the reunited classic Guns N’ Roses line-up. The band released three popular LPs in the Nineties before the 2002 death of original singer Layne Staley. Alice in Chains reformed four years later with vocalist William DuVall and released two more albums, including 2013’s The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.
“There’s some real filth in there,” guitarist Jerry Cantrell told Rolling Stone of their latest work. “That’s intentional, and that’s also just how we sound together. We’re trying to make a record that we dig and we’re trying to keep the bar high for ourselves and see if we can get past it, and I think that we did again. And of course you want people to dig it too and to respond to it, and to have that start happening is satisfying.”
The band promoted The Devil in 2014 with a haunting video for “Phantom Limb,” included in a BitTorrent bundle also featuring merch access.
