Watch Warren G’s Disastrous ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ at Cubs Game
The singing of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” has long been a tradition at Wrigley Field during the seventh inning of Chicago Cubs games, with everyone from Eddie Vedder and Tom Morello to Bill Murray and Will Ferrell performing the unofficial baseball anthem. Warren G was recruited to sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during Friday’s day game, and things did not go well as the rapper flubbed the lyrics to incur the wrath of the Cubs faithful.
“Cubbie fans, mount up,” the rapper told the crowd, a nod to his and Nate Dogg’s 1994 hit “Regulate.” However, things went downhill from there as Warren G sang, “Take me to the ball game / Take me out with the crowd” in an off-key, CSN Chicago reports. The Wrigley crowd responded to the rendition with a steady chorus of jeers and boos.
As Warren G noted on Twitter, even though his “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” was disastrous, the rapper did deliver a solid ceremonial first pitch (at least compared to 50 Cent). Despite the boos, Warren G tweeted, “I love Chi Town!”
