See Bernie Sanders Comment on Trump Debate on ‘Kimmel’
Following Donald Trump‘s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Bernie Sanders stopped by the late-night show. Sanders had requested Trump’s participation in a debate by having Kimmel ask on his behalf.
“You made it possible for us to have a very interesting debate about two guys who look at the world very, very differently,” Sanders said. Kimmel added that he think it could be one of the highest-rated programs in television history.
As he also tweeted, Sanders is hoping to have the event in a stadium and added that ABC has already contacted him about hosting it.
Sanders added that Hillary Clinton had backed away from debating Sanders prior to the California primary, which Sanders called “insulting.” Kimmel played a clip of Clinton stating that she is the Democratic presidential nominee, and Sanders commented on her “arrogance.” After explaining the difference between delegates, Sanders noted he polls further ahead than Clinton when it comes to beating Trump, asserting that he would be the candidate who could be the Republican candidate.
Sanders also touched on the issue of transgender bathroom laws with Kimmel. “I think the attacks against transgender people is part of a bigotry which has got to end,” he said. “I applaud the president for what he’s trying to do on that.”
