Watch Triple H Get His Gory Head Wound Stapled Shut
If you tuned in to last night’s WWE Raw, you saw one wrestler, Neville, fracture his ankle during a match (and then continue performing) and another suffer a head injury that required six staples to close.
That would be current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, who was attacked by his WrestleMania opponent, Roman Reigns. And while the assault was scripted, the one-inch gash Trips received wasn’t – and neither were the staples WWE’s medical team inserted in his scalp once the show went off the air.
In a testament to his toughness – and, perhaps, as a kiss-off to the “wrestling is fake” detractors – WWE posted video of Triple H (real name: Paul Levesque) being evaluated by trainer Larry Heck, who cleans and staples shut the wound on his head. WWE’s senior ringside physician, Chris Amann, can also be seen picking tiny shards of glass out of H’s back, the result of a Roman smashing a TV monitor over his shoulders.
It’s pretty gory, but it bears noting that both Triple H and his real-life wife, Stephanie McMahon, manage to stay in character during the whole thing – Steph bossing around a WWE employee, and H threatening to make Reigns pay for the assault. What can we say? They’re both pros to the end.
Of course, all of this is a far cry from the injuries Reigns sustained a few weeks ago at the hands of Triple H – which were amplified by a blood pack slipped to Roman by WWE commentator Byron Saxton mid-assault. Either way, it looks like their match at ‘Mania could be a brutal one…at least by today’s standards. Better get those staples ready.
