See Savages Thrash Through ‘The Answer’ on ‘Kimmel’
Post-punk revivalists Savages release their much anticipated second LP Adore Life on Friday, and the U.K. band stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday to drop a pair of new album cuts: the ferocious “The Answer” and the slow-burning “Adore.”
“It’s about change and the power to change,” Savages previously said of their new album. “It’s about metamorphosis and evolution. It’s about sticking to your guns and toughing it out. It’s about now, not tomorrow. It’s about recognizing your potential. It’s about self-doubt and inaction. It’s about you. It’s about me. It’s about you and me and the others. It’s about the choices we make. It’s about finding the poetry and avoiding the cliché. It’s about being the solution, not the problem. It’s about showing weakness to be strong.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone, singer Jehnny Beth said of the group’s follow-up to 2013’s Silence Yourself, “We wanted to write the hardest, most extreme songs we could ever write.” Savages would later add that they hoped their new LP proved “loud guitar music is still alive and still connects people.”
During the Kimmel visit, Savages also shared their impression of the Adore Life album cover while hanging out backstage.
