Watch Jimmy Fallon Sing ‘Hamilton’ Track as McCartney, Jagger, Bowie
Jimmy Fallon unleashed a torrent of impersonations from Paul McCartney to Michael Jackson to Bono while singing “You’ll Be Back” from the musical Hamilton, as part of the Broadway show’s digital Ham4Ham series.
As Vulture notes, Ham4Ham began as special, one-off street performances for those trying to score a lottery ticket to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit Broadway show. With the lotto now online, the series has gone digital as well, but Fallon’s wild stylings show the series hasn’t lost its off-the-cuff edge.
In all, Fallon runs through 12 different classic impersonations, including Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Dave Matthews and Barry Gibb. At times, it’s unclear how familiar Fallon is with the actual lyrics of “You’ll Be Back,” but his commitment never wavers and keeps Roots drummer Questlove giggling wildly in the background.
After an honorary David Bowie impression, and a now-requisite Bob Dylan, the bit closed with Miranda and Questlove requesting Bono. Instead of singing, Fallon struck one of the U2 singer’s overly grand stage poses, sending Quest into hysterics.
