Watch Peyton Manning Belt Out Johnny Cash at Karaoke
Being a future Hall of Famer certainly has its perks. Thankfully, a recording contract isn’t one of them.
It’s been a month since Peyton Manning retired from the NFL – and moved one step closer to his inevitable induction in Canton – and since then he’s laid relatively low. But he popped up in Nashville earlier this week to speak at an event on behalf of the Red Cross, then hit the town that night, even taking the stage at Winners Bar and Grill to belt out a few karaoke numbers with country singer Lee Brice. Seems he really can’t resist the lure of the stage.
It’s a moment the folks in attendance will never forget…though not necessarily for the reasons you might think. Turns out, as a singer, Manning’s a pretty good quarterback, and thankfully, his limit was two songs (first an homage to his alma mater with “Rocky Top,” then a tribute to Johnny Cash with “Folsom Prison Blues”). But that provided more than enough time for people to snap pictures, get video and share it on social media for everyone to…uh, enjoy?
Whatever the case may be, retirement seems to be treating Manning rather well.
It’s too bad “Whiskey Jam” is sponsored by Miller Lite and not Budweiser – check the sign in the background, people. Otherwise, Winners could probably count on Manning being there every week for karaoke.
