See Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe Sing ‘You’ve Got a Friend’
Even prior to forming the Pistol Annies with Angaleena Presley, Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe had an inspiring, creative friendship that spawned “Heart Like Mine” for Lambert’s third album Revolution. The intervening years have seen Pistol Annies take a break, Monroe get married to baseball player John Danks, and Lambert get divorced from Blake Shelton.
Through these ups and downs, the two women have remained close and shared the stage during C2C Festival at London’s O2 Arena to sing Carole King’s entirely appropriate song “You’ve Got a Friend.” In the video above, Lambert is wrapping up her set when she introduces Monroe and thanks the British crowd for its hospitality. The women swap lines and harmonize on acoustic rendition of the tune, originally featured on King’s landmark 1971 album Tapestry and taken to Number One soon after by James Taylor.
Lambert will resume her stateside touring duties on April 23rd, supporting Kenny Chesney’s Spread the Love tour kickoff at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama with Sam Hunt and Old Dominion. Additionally, she will headline her own Keeper of the Flame tour with guests Kip Moore and Brothers Osborne during spring and summer.
