‘Force Awakens’ Digital, DVD Release Dates and Bonus Footage Unveiled
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available digitally on April 1st, while the special Blu-ray and DVD editions will arrive on April 5th.
The DVD and Blu-ray releases will come with a bevy of bonus features, including deleted scenes and a documentary chronicling the making of The Force Awakens that will include interviews with the cast and filmmakers. Featurettes on the first Force Awakens table read, the making of BB-8 and other new creatures and an in-depth look at the climactic lightsaber fight between Rey and Kylo Ren will also be available.
Target, Best Buy and Walmart will also stock different versions of the DVD and Blu-ray packages. Target’s will boast interviews with stars Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn), and a look at the costumes and weaponry of The Force Awakens. Walmart’s edition will feature special BB-8 packaging, while Best Buy’s will boast SteelBook packaging.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has raked in a staggering $2.05 billion worldwide so far, shattering opening-weekend box office records by bringing in $238 million in North America. The film also went on to garner four Oscar nominations.
Production on the follow-up to The Force Awakens began in February. The as-yet-untitled Episode VIII will be directed by Rian Johnson and features much of the cast from the previous films, as well as newcomers Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran. Episode VIII is scheduled to arrive December 15th, 2017, while the first Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One, hits theaters this December 16th.
