See Sam Hunt’s Blissful ‘Single for the Summer’ Video
If Sam Hunt appears in the “Single for the Summer” video, he’s very hard to find — a blurry shape who occasionally darkens the edge of the frame, perhaps, but never visible in the foreground.
Unlike the brooding figures from “Take Your Time” and “Break Up in a Small Town” or the happy carouser from “Leave the Night On” and “House Party,” Hunt cedes the scenery in the “Single for the Summer” to someone else entirely. In this case, the video — directed by Steven Alan — follows a beautiful young woman through a blissed out summer romance in a seaside paradise. Long, hot days of swimming in the surf and throwing Frisbee melt into breathtaking sunsets and cocktail consumption. The woman occasionally pulls the hand of someone off camera, as if the video is actually the perspective of the song’s narrator just making the most of his bachelorhood.
“Single for the Summer” is the sixth video released from Hunt’s wildly successful debut album Montevallo, which arrived in late 2014. Currently, the singer is helping open stadium shows on Kenny Chesney’s Spread the Love summer tour.
