Haim and Calvin Harris Share Spellbinding ‘Pray to God’ Video
Haim‘s busy February has so far featured the three sisters globetrotting on Taylor Swift’s Instagram and joining her 1989 World Tour, a visit to the 57th annual Grammy Awards and a “Jungle Love” jam session with Morris Day and the Time on Jimmy Kimmel Live! While the trio still haven’t announced details for their Days Are Gone follow-up, the month of Haim continues with their starring role in “Pray to God,” their recent collaboration with Calvin Harris.
Given the song’s “Edge of Seventeen”-indebted riff and Haim’s indoctrination into the Sisterhood of the Moon, the “Pray to God” video finds the sisters in Stevie Nicks sorceress mode, with Danielle, Este and Alana Haim traversing a wintery landscape full of wolves, white doves and snow rabbits as they sing along to Harris’ track. The Haim sisters even recreate some Fleetwood Mac-esque harmonies together around the 2:40 mark of the video.
Last summer, Haim promised that their sophomore LP would be out “very soon,” but apparently it has taken longer than expected for the sisters to channel their inner Kanyes. “We’re always writing and figuring out new vibes and trying to get our inner Kanyes out,” Alana Haim told Rolling Stone. “I have yet to see Kanye not put out an amazing record – and people don’t understand how hard that is. To make record after record and come out with something new and push the boundaries and have it succeed every single time is insane.”
“Pray to God” was directed by Emil Nava and features on Harris’ Motion, one of Rolling Stone‘s 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014. The EDM DJ’s fourth album also features collaborations with Gwen Stefani, Tinashe, Ellie Goulding, Big Sean and John Newman, who appears on the hit single “Shame.”
