Watch Carrie Underwood Fire a Powerful Message in ‘Little Toy Guns’ Video
Mom-to-be Carrie Underwood delivers a strong message about parenting in her brand-new video for “Little Toy Guns,” which premiered Friday on her Facebook page. (Watch it below.)
“This little girl hears her parents fighting, and it really affects her,” the country superstar shares of the song’s storyline, about a child who wishes her mother and father’s scathing words were as harmless as shots fired from a plastic pistol.
Directed by PR Brown, the clip plays on the child’s fantasies, as she mentally transports herself from her combative home to a storybook land where she’s a mythical hero. As Underwood sings about a daughter “caught in the crossfire” of her feuding parents, the little girl — dressed in Lord of the Rings-type garb — runs through a forest to eventually reunite her mother and father. The end of the video takes the song a step beyond its lyrics, as reality returns and peace prevails.
Written by Underwood, Chris DeStefano and Hillary Lindsey, “Little Toy Guns” joins the chart-topping “Something in the Water” as the two new tracks on the country superstar’s Greatest Hits: Decade #1 album. The compilation, released December 9th, also features new versions of four previous Underwood hits.
The 31-year-old singer and husband Mike Fisher, who plays for the Nashville Predators, will welcome their first child (a boy, as revealed on November’s CMA Awards), this spring.
