Faith No More Promise New Material on First North American Tour Since 2010
As Faith No More readies their first album since 1997’s Album of the Year, the band has booked its first North American tour in five years. The trek will kick off this April in Vancouver and includes two-night residencies in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City before wrapping in Philadelphia in May.
“Here we go,” bassist Bill Gould said in a statement. “First North American tour dates, some in cities we haven’t played in over 17 years. We are armed with the new material and ready for whatever comes our way.”
The band says it will release its as-yet-untitled new album in May via their own label, Reclamation Recordings, which will be distributed via frontman Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings. Gould is overseeing the LP’s production.
A month before the tour, the group will release the new song “Superhero,” which follows up “Motherfucker,” the group’s November single. The new tune will come out as a seven-inch single on March 17th and as a digital single on March 31st.
Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on January 30th.
“I think what we’re doing reflects where we’ve gone since we made our last record as Faith No More,” Gould told Rolling Stone last September. “I think this kicks things up a notch. And I think there’s parts that are very powerful and there’s parts that have a lot of ‘space.’ Everything we do, with our chemistry, the way we play; it’s always going to sound like us. It’s just what we do, that makes us feel good. Hopefully it doesn’t sound like a bunch of 50-year-old men…which we are!”
Refused will serve as the group’s opening act between July 30th and August 7th. Tickets for the summer dates go on sale April 10th.
