Watch Karen O’s Love-Buzzed Video for ‘Day Go By’
On the lo-fi acoustic jangle “Day Go By,” Karen O sings simple, reflective words about a romance taking over her brain. Photographic duo Wiissa (Vanessa Hollander and Wilson Philippe) brings daydream-y nostalgia to the track’s music video, which follows a love-struck couple as they swim and ride a Vespa.
“I wrote this song when I was living in Los Angeles and my boyfriend was stuck freezing in NYC,” the singer told Vogue, who premiered the clip on Wednesday. “I really needed my fix of being with him but was miles away. Wiissa brings summer loving to everyone who’s braving a cold winter’s day.”
“Day Go By” is featured on Karen O‘s debut solo album, Crush Songs, which was released last September. On February 10th, Cult Records will release a limited Valentine’s Day 7″ vinyl edition of album track “Rapt.” The record – available for pre-order on Amazon – will be pressed on etched pink vinyl featuring the singer’s personal drawings and artwork, along with an embossed, die-cut heart. The B-side features an exclusive TRZTN remix of “Rapt.”
“The Moon Song,” Karen O’s original track included on the soundtrack for Spike Jonze’s film Her, was recently nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, which will be held February 8th. The track was previously nominated for Best Original Song at the 2014 Oscars.
Following the release of Crush Songs, O embarked on an intimate solo tour with dates in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and Berlin. She also held listening vinyl parties for the album in the living rooms of select fans around the globe.
