The Mavericks Return With New Album, Plot World Tour
Few artists can evoke a sense of a time and place as adeptly as the Mavericks. With their Latin-inspired blend of country music, and singer Raul Malo’s huge voice, the group conjured magic on 2013’s In Time, the band’s first album together in nearly 10 years. Last night during a performance on the Grand Ole Opry, the Mavericks announced the arrival of In Time‘s successor. Titled Mono, the project will be released February 17th. Check out a teaser of the band in the studio below.
“We have had a great run and it continues to get better and we’re having more fun than ever before,” Malo told Rolling Stone Country in August. Mono, like In Time, will be released via Valory Music Group, under the Big Machine Label Group banner. Malo praised the label for letting him and bandmates Paul Deakin, Eddie Perez and Jerry Dale McFadden follow their muse.
“It is on Big Machine and, you know, they did right by us,” he said. “Heck, they let us make a record at this stage. I know people probably have a hard time imagining this, but it’s not the easiest thing to get these days, to be able to make records and have a record contract.”
Unfortunately, founding member Robert Reynolds has stepped away from the group as his wife battles cancer. A post on the band’s website thanked fans for their concern and prayers and announced the creation of a donation page to help Angie Crabtree Reynolds in her fight.
The Mavericks will launch the Mono Mundo Tour immediately following Mono‘s release, beginning February 19th in Boston, with three U.S. shows before heading overseas. Here are the band’s tour dates so far.
