Watch David Letterman Yell at Strangers on ‘Billy on the Street’
Ever since Funny or Die’s Billy Eichner made David Letterman crack up during his Late Show debut, the soon-retiring host was bound to join the rising comic on the cult-favorite series Billy on the Street. In a new clip, the pair run around New York City and aggressively quiz strangers on what the late-night legend should do next.
“I’m out here with the new host of E!’s Fashion Police, David Letterman,” quipped Eichner at the start of the hilarious video. The duo offered a prize of $1 to unsuspecting folks they randomly screamed at about everything from Letterman hosting a podcast to what will happen to the leader of Late Show‘s house band Paul Shaffer. “The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame isn’t a year-round job,” joked Eichner about Shaffer’s future.
The veteran talk show host made no secret of how much he enjoyed Eichner’s brand of comedy during Eichner’s appearance on The Late Show; Letterman insisted that the Parks & Rec actor continue yelling at him following their fast-paced game of “Celebrity Child or Kentucky Derby Winner?” “Come back any time!” screamed Letterman at the end of their playful shouting that capped off the interview.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Billy on the Street‘s fourth season will move to TruTV following three seasons on Fuse. The move is part of huge development deal between Eichner and Turner Broadcasting, which will include encore episodes of his game show on TBS and new pilots for Adult Swim, TruTV and TBS. Meanwhile, his new show with Julie Klausner titled Difficult People has been picked up by Hulu.
The final episode of The Late Show With David Letterman will air on May 20th. Stephen Colbert will step in as host on September 8th.
