‘Idol’ Fan Favorite Savion Wright Comes to Yahoo
Perhaps not since Josiah Leming made it all the way to the Green Mile on American Idol Season 7, only to be cut right before the live shows, had there been as protested and premature an Idol elimination as that of this past season’s Savion Wright.
The Texan singer-songwriter — who waited years to try out for Idol; had been consistently awesome since he auditioned with his original song, “Dark Side of Me”; and had received a disproportionately large amount of screentime — sobbed when he found out he hadn’t made it, telling the judges: “I thought it was my time.” Many viewers had thought it was his time, too.
Now Season 14 is already looming, with the auditions starting June 18, so fans are wondering if Savion is willing to give the show another ago. Idol was a tough process for him — in addition to his emotional elimination, his older brother was shockingly murdered right before he left for Hollywood Week — so it would be understandable if he decided not to put himself through the wringer again.
But when Savion visited Yahoo Music’s headquarters shortly after the Season 13 finale to perform another original tune, “That’s How We Go,” of course the question had to be asked. Will Savion be back on the show? And how does he feel about his overall experience with Idol? Watch the interview above to find out what’s in store for Savion Wright and Season 14.
