‘Entourage’ Bros Strike Back in First Film Trailer
A category five bro-icane is expected to hit theaters next summer, but it made landfall today with the release of the first official trailer for the Entourage movie. Yes, Vince, E, Turtle, Drama and afffable rage-aholic Ari Gold are back, and as the new clip shows, there are still more ridiculous antics the show’s creators have planned for the big screen.
Fittingly, the trailer opens with a trailer — this one for Vince’s latest movie, which he’s directing and starring in, ostensibly as a superhero DJ who leads a horde of EDM revelers in a clash against police. Just as a fight breaks out and Vince’s character starts to transform into some robot-human hybrid, Ari snaps everyone back to “reality”: The movie’s already $15 million over its $100 million budget, and if it bombs, Vinny and the gang are done. Or as Billy Bob Thornton succinctly puts it to Ari: “This movie’s enormous. If it fails, you go down in flames quicker than the Hindenburg.”
The boys from Queens Boulevard have a plan, which seems to involve a combination of yacht parties, fast cars and watching Turtle get kicked in the face. Meanwhile, Ari’s still yelling at Lloyd and punching out picture frames during couples therapy, and Mark Wahlberg still doesn’t like poor Johnny Drama.
Rumors of an Entourage movie began after the show wrapped up its eight-season run on HBO in 2011. While the movie got the green light from Warner Bros. in January 2013, negotiations weren’t finalized until October. Creator Doug Ellin wrote and directed the Entourage movie, which will open in theaters on June 5th.
