Bruce Springsteen, Louis C.K. to Headline ‘Stand Up for Heroes’ Benefit
This year’s Stand Up For Heroes benefit, an evening of music and comedy that raises funds for injured servicemembers and their families, will feature appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Louis C.K., John Oliver, John Mulaney, Brian Williams and other surprise guests. The annual show will take place at New York’s Theater at Madison Square Garden on November 5th, with tickets on sale September 17th at noon.
The annual event is organized by the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival. “Lee and I are so humbled by the generous contributions of the talent, sponsors, and variety of organizations in honor of our nation’s heroes and their families,” Woodruff said in a statement. “Each year the show gets bigger and better, demonstrating the unwavering support of all those involved.
“We, as well as the show’s talented performers, want to show our appreciation for and give back to the brave men and women who served our country and have come home injured. We are inspired and moved by the grand presence of all these groups on such an incredible night for us to commend and remember our heroes.”
The Stand Up For Heroes Benefit has been staged every New York since 2007, raising more than $21 million and featuring performances by Roger Waters, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby, Ricky Gervais, Jon Stewart and many others. Springsteen has played the event every single year. Last year, he played a three-song acoustic set, told dirty jokes and auctioned off an electric guitar, an hour of personal guitar lessons and an invitation to watch him record at his home studio. Bidding stopped at $250,000.
