Brad Paisley Leaks ‘Limes’ Through Humorous Lyric Video
If the song wasn’t about margaritas, you might think Brad Paisley made his latest lyric video for his kids.
“Limes” is the latest Moonshine in the Trunk song leak from the country singer, who’s been on a Twitter rampage in the past few weeks, posting “unauthorized” clips from his upcoming LP, along with texts and emails from executives at his record label asking him to stop. A new video posted Friday features the latest song and casts the singer as a bearded, cowboy hat-clad lime, trying to cheer up the “Annoying Orange.”
“I always wondered what my fruit spirit would be. Here you go,” tweeted the country superstar, along with the animated video (above), which is a part of the popular Annoying Orange YouTube web series.
When “Annoying Orange” tells the puckered Paisley he’s having a bad day, the singer one-ups his friend with some exaggerated country music clichés: “My truck broke down, my dog has the flu and my mom just got out of prison,” he quips.
Their exchange is followed by the full song, played out by a bunch of limes that meet their maker in a blender. “You take it all with a grain of salt/And realize that sometimes it ain’t your fault/You got something you don’t want to remember/That’s when you need to just throw it in a blender/And have a good time (Now add tequila!)/When life gives you limes/You make margaritas,” sings Paisley in the chorus.
Speaking of margaritas, the singer actually built a bar in his home studio specifically for the making of his Moonshine in the Trunk album. “I actually built a pub at the end of the house,” he told Rolling Stone Country earlier this summer. “I was like, ‘Let’s make this record feel like a party.’ I think a record should be a bit of a party, especially when you cut it like I do with non-hired guns. It’s my band — it’s the guys that you see on the stage with me and some co-writers that are always busy working with some lyrical changes with me.”
Moonshine in the Trunk, Paisley’s tenth studio album, hits stores August 26th.
