Watch Sebastian Bach Creepily Transform Into Willie Nelson
Sure, Sebastian Bach is a heavy metal icon – but he’s also one hell of a country singer. The former Skid Row frontman shows off the twangier side of his vibrato in his latest appearance on ABC’s Sing Your Face Off, impersonating Willie Nelson with a take on the country icon’s “Always on My Mind.” The performance is available above, via Access Hollywood.

Bach is known for his theatrical style, so it’s easy to picture the metal legend dressing up in costume. But it’s hilarious (and borderline disturbing) to see him decked out in flannel, fake braids and bandana. After transforming inside “the Facelift” (get it?), the frontman emerges with a smile and a peace sign before easing into the heartsick ballad.
Bach tames his grandiose vibrato a bit, adding some of Nelson’s trademark whine, and it’s fascinating to hear those two musical extremes fighting against each other. When he slips into full-on crooner mode in the second verse, leading the audience through a group arm-wave, it’s easy to forget the true identity of the man on stage. Sort of.
In previous episodes, Bach’s transformed into Maroon 5’s Adam Levin and (gulp) Lady Gaga. His full Nelson segment will be shown on the next episode, which airs Saturday, June 7th at 9 p.m. EST.
Nelson, meanwhile, has a new LP, Band of Brothers, set for release on June 17th. “Willie’s writing his ass off,” collaborator Billy Joe Shaver recently told Rolling Stone Country. “I feel like these two albums, mine and Willie’s, I think it’s going to switch things around and change it back to the good ol’ stuff. I’m pretty sure it will, because he has so many followers and people listen to him.”
