‘Broad City’ Season Two Trailer: Bongs, Twerking, ‘Titty Chips’
Comedy Central‘s breakout hit Broad City is returning for a new 10-episode season on January 14th. But fans can satisfy their comedic cravings with the above trailer, which teases the reliably bizarre New York City misadventures of the show’s co-stars and primary writers, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer.
It’s a hilarious, gleefully profane two minutes crammed with twerking, “titty chips,” bong hits, blow-dried crotches and “white power suits.” At one point, Glazer tells a loudmouth street-walker to “suck [her] fucking dick,” and the clip ends with Jacobson and Seth Rogen randomly shouting at a kitten.
Jacobson and Glazer, alumnae of the NYC improv comedy group Upright Citizens Brigade, created Broad City as a web series that ran from 2009 to 2011. They eventually attracted the attention of Parks and Recreation star (and UCB co-founder) Amy Poehler, who helped the duo secure a series deal with Comedy Central. The show, which premiered in January 2014, focuses on two friends – slacker-stoner Ilana Wexler and struggling artist Abbi Abrams – and their battles with poverty and dead-end relationships.
One of Season One’s more memorable episodes featured a parody of Missy Elliot’s video for “The Rain” and a Drake-sampling cold-open. “When we saw the final cut…I don’t know what giving birth is like, but I imagine that’s how it feels,” Glazer told Rolling Stone back in March. “Just seeing this thing you’ve incubated for so long and then boom, it’s here.”
