Sundance 2015: Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie on ‘Sleeping With Other People’
In Leslye Headland’s new romantic comedy Sleeping With Other People, Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie star as sex-addicted friends attempting to keep the romance at bay. And the duo’s on-screen chemistry is no fluke, judging by their “Off the Cuff” Sundance interview with Rolling Stone movie critic Peter Travers. The two actors balance sweetness and raunchiness as they discuss their immediate friendship and their knowledge of the clitoris.
Brie says she met her co-star the day they came in for a “chemistry read” – essentially a “first date” for actors, as Sudeikis notes. “When you come in to do a chemistry read with another person, I always feel like it takes a lot of the pressure off,” Brie says, emphasizing that she’s “great at chemistry.” (She even observes the “palpable” vibe between her and her interviewer.)
Elsewhere, Travers mentions some of the film’s highlights – including the line “You’re not the Mark Zuckerberg of vaginas,” directed at Sudeikis’ character. (“I like to think I’m as charitable,” the actor deadpans about his own sexual prowess.) Brie also jokes about the script’s focus on the female anatomy, emphasizing that a clitoral revolution is nigh. “We’re bringing the clitoris back,” she says. “The butt has had its time.”
