Visit ‘Better Call Saul’ Set in New Behind-the-Scenes Clip
Tough as it is to live in a world with no more new episodes of Breaking Bad, the cast and crew of AMC’s Better Call Saul are here to cure your blues in a new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming spinoff series. “It was always in Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s laps to create it, want to do it and have a vision for it,” says Saul himself, Bob Odenkirk, of the new show. “And I came along as a lucky actor. It’s like somebody telling you, ‘I think you might’ve won the lottery.'”
Odenkirk isn’t the only familiar face to pop up — Breaking Bad fans will certainly be ecstatic to see Jonathan Banks, who will reprise has role as the grouchy fixer, Mike Ehrmantraut. And many of the folks on the other side of the camera are Breaking Bad alumni as well, from producers and prop masters to costume designers and set builders.
The clip doesn’t offer too many specifics about what the show will entail, but the cast does hint at high drama, big cliffhangers and a few surprises that will elate Breaking Bad fans. Still, these are separate shows, and the saga of Saul Goodman — or, Jimmy McGill, rather — is a completely different beast than the tale of Walter White. “How Bob Odenkirk will take that character from where it started and then lead us to where Breaking Bad begins, it’s going to be a wonderful journey,” says co-executive producer, Stewart Lyons.
While it was supposed to premiere this month, Better Call Saul will begin its run on AMC in February 2015. “We could have made the deadline, but I am slow as mud,” Breaking Bad mastermind and Saul co-showrunner Vince Gilligan explained. Despite the delay, Better Call Saul has already been renewed for a second season.
