Justin Bieber Links With Migos for Romantic Club Jam ‘Looking for You’
Despite all the headline-grabbing antics that paint Justin Bieber as an childish diva, the singer continues to mature musically. Take for instance his new single “Looking for You,” which dropped out of nowhere on Thursday. Biebz hooks up with red-hot Atlanta trio Migos, who dropped the third best mixtape of 2013. Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset all show off their talents on this banger that comes packed with club-ready deep bass and a hook about finding the right girl. (Tabloids are already speculating this song is about Bieber’s on-again/off-again flame Selena Gomez.)
The Evolution of Justin Bieber
The producer credits on the track are still unknown, but “Looking for You” definitely is not the DJ Mustard-produced cut that Biebz teased back in March. MTV notices that “Looking for You” does borrow its beat from Benzino’s 2003 hit “Rock the Party.” It’s unclear whether “Looking For You” is destined for Bieber’s next LP or just a one-off single, but here’s hoping the Canadian troublemaker links up with Migos again in the future.
While his own rap skills leave much to be desired, there’s no denying Bieber has an ear for up-and-coming hip-hop talent: Six months ago, he put Chance the Rapper in the mainstream with “Confident,” and then served as the Chicago rapper’s hype man at the Coachella music festival. Bieber has also reportedly spent time in the studio with Tyler, the Creator, collaborated with Drake, Future and Nicki Minaj, and spit Tupac with Rick Ross at Cannes.
