Help Pharrell Recover the Words of His New Social Book, ‘Inspiration’
Pharrell has released a new “social book,” Inspiration, which is currently available to read online. The catch? The words are missing. Fans can guess the absent words, and the first person to correctly guess any missing word will be credited in the book when it is published.

Pharrell has teamed up with Bic and correction fluid company Tipp-Ex to draw inspiration and characters from the latter’s inventive Mad Libs-esque campaign featuring a hunter and a bear. As the intro video below shows, a hunter and a bear are tasked with protecting Inspiration from a relentless mob. When the bear tries to shield the book from potential readers, he ends up covering up every word in the book, allowing readers to “rewrite” the story. The first four pages were unlocked Thursday, with more to come in the future and viewers can help reveal the book through a new interactive website.
When all the words have been filled in, the book will be published and sold, although there is no official release date yet. Revenues from the book will go to From One Hand to AnOTHER, a nonprofit organization founded by Pharrell that seeks to help at-risk youths in American communities. Alongside English, the experience is also available in French, German, Spanish and Italian.
It’s been a good few months for Pharrell. The singer/producer released his new album, Girl, has taken his “Happy” vibes to SNL, Oprah Prime and the Oscars and is collaborating with Hans Zimmer on the score for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In 2012, he released his first book, Pharrell: Places and Spaces I’ve Been, which featured contributions from Kanye West and Anna Wintour.
