Darius Rucker Dreams of Working With ‘Medicine’ Men
Darius Rucker and Old Crow Medicine Show may be forever linked through the gears of a certain “Wagon Wheel,” but now it’s possible that the string band with a Remedy and the ex-Blowfish might lay down some true collaborations.

“I want to get those guys to play on my record, that’s a dream of mine,” Rucker tells Rolling Stone Country. “I hope we’ll write something really cool and they would want to do it. I love those guys.”
According to Billboard, Rucker has already hinted that his album will be inspired by the old time sounds of “Wagon Wheel,” so taking it one step further by inviting Old Crow into the studio is a surefire way to embed a classic country feeling into his next set of tunes.
Rucker’s respect for Old Crow runs deep. “They’re as close to the old days as we have. They’re so authentic and real. And I think Ketch [Secor, OCMS lead singer] is probably one of the most intelligent people I’ve met in my entire life.”
Since the chart-topping success of “Wagon Wheel,” Rucker and Old Crow have played together at the Grand Ole Opry, an experience that Rucker saw as a nice indication of how things might go creatively. “The times we’ve played together have been really cool. So it would be really fun to get these guys in the studio and see what we can do.”
Old Crow, meanwhile, is busy supporting the release of Remedy and just unveiled the slick video for “Sweet Amarillo,” their second Dylan collaboration. And it seems like the admiration is mutual. Says Old Crow’s Critter Fuqua, “I love Darius, and he loves playing music.”
