See Josh Abbott Band, Carly Pearce Sing Sultry ‘Wasn’t That Drunk’
One month after releasing the steamy video for their “Wasn’t That Drunk” duet, Josh Abbott Band and Carly Pearce met up on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform the song.
A power ballad about a hookup between two former flames, “Wasn’t That Drunk” finds Abbott and Pearce swapping verses and harmonies over a country-pop arrangement that still makes room for fiddle and banjo. It’s the newest single from Josh Abbott Band, whose most recent album, Front Row Seat, finds the group reaching beyond its Texas home base and courting a much larger audience. It isn’t the group’s first time duetting with an up-and-coming female singer, either. Half a decade earlier, Abbott and company recorded the sleeper hit “Oh, Tonight” with Kacey Musgraves, two years before Same Trailer Different Park turned her into one of the biggest contemporary artists to come out of the Lone Star State.
Pearce hails from Kentucky, but a lack of Texas roots doesn’t sour the chemistry between the two singers in the video clip above. Later this summer, Pearce and Josh Abbott Band will team up again for a handful of shared summertime shows, kicking things off in Kansas City on June 16th.
