Watch Country Bad Girl Nikki Lane Perform on ‘Conan’
Nikki Lane, one of Rolling Stone‘s 10 New Artists You Need to Know, made her late-night television debut last night, appearing on TBS’s Conan. The performance, all danger and attitude, reflected Lane’s rebel image — one opposite the mainstream-country stars who perform tonight on ABC’s CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock.
Singing “Right Time,” a thumping track from her unapologetically risqué album All or Nothin’ — which advises “It’s always the right time to do the wrong thing” — Lane, in her custom monogrammed cap, evoked vintage Jessi Colter. Her legs also got ample screen time, considering the barely-there shorts Lane sported.
“I’m not misbehaving that badly,” Lane once told Rolling Stone, referring to her lyrics, which address late nights drinking, carousing and sleeping around. “I’m just not making the shit that’s on country radio.”
