See Flo Rida Georgia Line’s ‘Cruise,’ ‘My House’ Mash-Up on ‘Kimmel’
Since Jimmy Kimmel launched his Mash-Up Mondays last year, the late-night host has put together some unconventional combos: Morris Day and the Haim and the truly inspired Weezer/ZZ Top hybrid Wee-Z Top. Last night’s mash-up of Florida Georgia Line and rapper Flo Rida — as Flo Rida Georgia Line — may have been the most musically on-the-nose, but it worked.
Florida Georgia Line, who performed new single “H.O.L.Y.” last week on Kimmel’s late-night show (the same time they taped this mash-up), opened with a solo take on the perennial “Cruise,” before welcoming Flo Rida to the stage. That’s when the true collaboration started: with FGL’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley backing up Flo Rida on his 2015 hit “My House.”
Hip-hop hybrids are nothing new for the award-wining duo, of course. Their 2013 remix of “Cruise” with Nelly was a major crossover hit and helped launch a dual tour with the rapper.
