Over Twenty Years of Peter Travers’ Movie Reviews Now Online
For the first time ever, all of Peter Travers’ Rolling Stone movie reviews are available online. There’s nearly 2,000 in all, from his very first review, in 1989, of Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing to his critique of this weekend’s box-office winner, Johnny Depp’s Rango.
Check out Travers’ classic takedowns, like his infamous slam of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, in which he called director Michael Bay “a destroyer of dreams”; his description of Robin Williams in Toys as a “gimmicky, obvious and pious bore”; and his take on the “shipwreck” that was Guy Richie and Madonna’s 2002 film, Swept Away.
There’s also the high praise: four stars for The Social Network, Travers’ number one movie of 2010; a rave for the “prodigious achievement” that was GoodFellas; and a declaration of the “daredevil cinematic artistry” in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
These are just some of the highlights. To find more, search for movies by name in our movie review search engine or browse our complete movie review archive.
